Inmate Family Assistance of the NRV

Inmate Family Assistance of the New River Valley (IFA of the NRV) is a volunteer organization created to help ease the burden on inmates’ families by helping fund their inmates’ accounts so that they may stay in contact.  Inmate funds are used for telephone calls, postage, stationery, hygiene items, and extra food.  It is our belief that inmates have a better chance at a positive outcome at the conclusion of their incarcerations if they are able to maintain contact with their support systems while incarcerated.  In addition, maintaining that contact also gives their families peace of mind. Since incarceration disproportionately affects the economically disadvantaged, we found there was a need to assist families who are not only struggling financially but dealing with having a loved one incarcerated.  To that end, we contribute $40 a month to an eligible inmate’s account on behalf of his or her family.  We currently serve only inmates at the Montgomery County Jail. The gift from 100+WWC NRV will not only ensure that we are able to continue to assist the families of inmates in the NRV for another year, but it also provides for the potential of expanding to other correctional facilities in the NRV.

InStill Mindfulness

InStill Mindfulness SWVA would like to thank 100+ for giving us the opportunity to present. InStill is committed to cultivating a mindful world for all. In these fraught times, it is critical to possess tools to deal with stress and anxiety, and the people involved with InStill have found that mindfulness practice has been the most effective tool they have at their disposal. This is why we share it. If you would like to help support our mission, sharing mindfulness in public schools, with law enforcement, and wherever else we can, please either mail a check to
